Additional information Our cottage is located on the southwest side of Higgins Lake, between W. Higgins Lake Road and the water. Lake access is just 200 steps away...walk past three cottages to the end of our dead-end road, then take a path down to the lake and the neighborhood swimming dock. No need to cross a paved road to get to the lake. Also at water's edge is a 1.5-mile long public gravel road that runs about 20 feet parallel to the shoreline. This is a quiet, scenic route lined with private, well-kept cottages....a nice place to walk, jog or bike with a great unobstructed view of the lake. A full-service party store & small restaurant are just around the corner and also within easy walking distance. Maps and handouts from local and northern Michigan destinations are provided with your reservation. Nearby marina with mooring rental, state park boat launches, and a "launch and go" boat ramp are all within 10 minutes. Local attractions (just a selected few) South and North Higgins Lake State Parks - both have boat launches, great beaches and swimming, paddleboat rentals and park stores. South is 5 minutes away, North about 20 minutes. Visit Marl Lake for hiking and fishing. This is a small, undeveloped lake located within S. Higgins Lake State Park. Houghton Lake - fishing, shopping, dining, putt putt, etc - 15 minutes south Grayling - shopping, golf, restaurants, dining, AuSable River canoe trips - 15 minutes north Golf - many nearby courses. Also check The Fox - between Higgins and Houghton Lake - a par 3 course that caters to kids. Cross-country skiing - sales and trails. Snowmobiling/ORV trails - state trails are only minutes away. Public basketball and tennis courts - Gerrish Township municipal building - 10 minutes. Civilian Conservation Corps Museum - at the North State Park. Wellington Farm Park - Depression-era working farm - 20 minutes. Hartwick Pines State Park - near Grayling - awesome hiking and interpretive center. Good day trips (all reachable back and forth in one day): Mackinaw City and Mackinaw Island - only 100 miles away. St. Ignace - just across the Mighty Mac; shopping & restaurants and Castle Rock. Traverse City - something for everyone - visit Interlochen, the drive-in and see the Beach Bums. Leelenau Peninsula - wineries, restaurants, etc. Petoskey and Harbor Springs - shopping, restaurants; boat the inland waterway. Sleeping Bear National Park - climb the sand dunes. Boyne Mountain and Charlevoix - skiing, of course, and visit Avalanche Bay water park at Boyne. West Branch - outlet mall. East Tawas and Oscoda - Tawas Bay, Lake Huron. Plus many more... Rental Policies These policies help keep the property comfortable and clean, so your stay is as enjoyable as possible: -- This is our family cottage; it is privately owned and when not rented, is enjoyed throughout the year by us and by others like yourselves. Please leave the cottage in the same condition as when you arrived. Nearby properties are also privately owned. Please treat our neighbors with consideration and respect. Have fun while keeping noise to a reasonable level that will not disturb surrounding residents. -- A $200.00 cleaning deposit will hold your reservation, and will be refunded promptly if the property is in good condition at check out. No alterations permitted including decorations, moving of furniture, nails in walls, landscaping, etc. Rentor shall pay for any loss or damage to the property caused by rentor or member(s) of their party. This amount may exceed the amount of the cleaning deposit as determined by the owners. -- Extended stays (4 or more nights) : The cleaning deposit plus 50% of the rental fee is due at the time of reservation, with the remaining 50% of the rental fee due at check-in. Weekend and Long Weekend rentals: The cleaning deposit and full rental fee is due at time of reservation. No credit cards, please. -- Cancellations: Full refund with 30 or more days notice before check-in. Rental fees refunded with less than 30 days notice (cleaning deposit forfeited). No refunds for early departures for any reason including emergencies, sickness, inclement weather, etc. No sub-rental to others. -- Sunrise Bluff, its owners and neighbors are not held liable for any claims, suits, costs, losses, expenses, etc associated with any damage, accidents, injuries or death that may occur during your stay. -- Check-in 3:00pm; check-out 11:00am. -- No pets on premises, no indoor smoking. For your relaxation we do not have a land-line phone or internet access. Most wireless services do reach the cottage. Specific location will be provided for cell access to 911 if needed. -- No house parties are permitted. -- Maximum of five people in rental party, and two vehicles on-site. No campers or travel trailers, please. Our property can comfortably accomodate an approximate 20' boat on trailer. -- Kindling and firewood for campfire pit is provided. PLEASE DO NOT BRING FIREWOOD OF ANY KIND. Limit campfires to the campfire pit on premises. -- Must be at least 21 years of age to rent the cottage. Some of the things we provide: Bed linens (1 queen, 2 doubles, 1 pullout couch twin) - one set. 32" TV with DVD, game system connections, and cable (basic channels plus FoxSports Detroit, Discovery, Weather, etc). Alarm clocks, AM/FM/CD player, weather radio. Lawn chairs (not portable; for use onsite). Gas and charcoal BBQ grills, with utensils. Picnic table (under gazebo in yard). Ping-pong table & dart board in garage. Full kitchen including oven, stove, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, utensils, silverware, dishes, pots, pans, toaster, etc. Dish soap and towels. Vacuum, mop, cleaning supplies, garbage bags. Firewood, kindling. Hair dryer, bath towels, washcloths. Rainy-day items: checkers, chess, Yahtzee, cards, dominos, darts. Things you should bring: Personal items (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, sunscreen, etc). Game systems/CDs/DVDs. Tablecloth for picnic table. Groceries. Water toys, fishing gear, beach towels, cooler. Extra linens if desired (washer/dryer on site for "must-use" only, please). Portable lawn chairs. |
